Using X-windows
To use X-windows, you must be logged in at an Explora. Various default
options are contained in the file .Xdefaults in your home
directory. The programs that are automatically
started are listed in your file .xsession.
You may want to customize these files to your preferences.
Some useful programs that run under X-windows are:
- acroread
-- Displays Adobe Acrobat documents.
- ghostview
-- Displays PostScript documents.
- xbiff
-- Mailbox flag for X
- xcalc
-- Hand calculator
- xclipboard
-- X clipboard client
- xclock
-- Continuously displays the current time of day.
- xdvi
-- DVI Previewer for the X Window System
- xlpq
-- Show/manage print jobs from an X window
- xrdb
-- Sets X defaults from resource database.
- xpdf
== Displays Adobe Acrobat documents (faster than
acroread).
- xsetroot
-- Set root window parameters.
- xterm
-- Initializes an X-Windows terminal emulator.
- xwd
-- Dumps the image of an X-Window.
Other interesting X-related programs can be found by listing the
X directories /usr/bin/X11.
